WHAT IS HAPPENING IN THE SMARTPHONE CLASS?
During the last few session, we had some questions come up during class. Here’s a glimpse of what was discussed
1.      CAN I CREATE A GROUP IN MY CONTACTS TO SEND A MASS MESSAGE ?
On you Contacts APP  check to see if the word Group appears in a tab across the top line of that APP. Most times all you need to do is Tap it, then a wizard begins asking for the name of the new Group.
I found this answer on the BLOG  page about SmartPhones. I listed your manual here.

2.      HOW CAN I CLEANUP MY SMARTPHONE? Trash is a 3 part answer. First you have to
cleanup the cache ( stuff that accumulates from App usage) In the General settings you should be able to find STORAGE for your device.  . So here's where you will find the button to delete the cache  or freeup Storage on your device from images, music, etc. Next , if you use the CHROME BROWSER be sure to cleanup the history, just as you would for your desktop computer. And lastly, be sure your erase all your unanswered phone messages.
If you fail to do this, you may not be able to receive new phone messages. The caller will hear this phone is not receiving messages, the inbox is full

3.      WHAT IS THE ACTIVE NOTIFICATION BAR SHOWING ME???
This would be the first line on your smartphone . It will show the percentage remaining, the date and time and all the APPS that are set to notify you there’s activity for them. You can control this through the settings to not be notified.

HOW DO I ORGANIZE PHOTOS IN THE PHONE GALLERY ON MY IPAD ??
Organize photos and videos The Album tab includes albums you create yourself and some albums that are created for you, depending on how you use Photos. For example, videos are automatically added to the Videos album and you see a My Photo Stream album if you use that feature (see My Photo Stream, next). All your photos in iCloud are in the All Photos album if you use iCloud Photo Library (see iCloud Photo Library on page 82). If you don’t use iCloud Photo Library, you see the Camera Roll album instead, which includes photos and videos you took with iPhone and from other sources.

Here’s that manual. The instructions for taking photos, and organizing begin on page 80.
Bring any questions to class or send an eMail to request an answer or demonstration in class to one4cugr@gmail.com.  Some of these are best as an exercise in class.
Here are those PRINTABLE PAGES IN PDF FORMAT

HOW DO I ORGANIZE PHOTOS IN MY ANDROID ??
Andoid phones work similar to the iPad instructions. With the T-Mobile Phone click in the upper  left corner to see the word TIME. Click on it and you will see your photos stored here in time sequence. You can also find the APP Story Album.  With Story Album, you can create a digital Album of your story in media. Special moments will be on a timeline, and if you wish, you can have your album published as a hard copy. 1. From the Home screen, tap (Apps) (Story Album). 2. Read the introductory information and tap Next. 3. Tap Start to begin your Story Album. 4. Follow the on-screen instructions. 5. Press and then tap Help for additional information see page 253 of the manual posted for T-mobile on the Smartphone tab of this Blog

Using a Samsung phone to Create Albums , from the Home Screen, tap on Apps>Gallery. Tap Menu in the Upper left corner, and then tap an option to choose the way items are displayed.

In Albums view, you can create albums to organize your images. On the drop-down menu, tap Albums and then tap More > Create Album. This is on page 86 of that manual

 LG Phone
On the LG phone, choose the photo first from the Gallery . Then click on the 3dots . From here, using the drop down tool list of options pick either Move or copy . Next find the Album you want to put that image in.

Notice you have lots of other choices here too.

  ANDROID ASSISTANT FROM GOOGLE PLAY:
This paid version you can avoid the advertising

The   Android Assistant can find apps (which install on the phone’s internal memory) and move the moveable ones to the SDcard – just as the tool’s name implies as its function. This method will help you save storage from the APP required to use it and move it to your SD external card.
There is also the free version, but the phone’s touch screens are so sensitive, it’s easy to accidently touch the ad banner and find yourself whisked away to some unrelated product’s website.

On Samsung Galaxy s7, LG v20 and HTC 10
For Android phones running Android 7.0 Nougat and Android 6.0 Marshmallow you can use Google’s Assistant as your personal helper. Here’s a few things to try
·        Take me ot the Museu Picassos
·        Show my photos of sunsets in Tahoe
·        Do I need an Umbrella Today
·        How do I say Hello in French?

Help for Google Photo Users
